About DHS Patriots Baseball
DHS Patriots Baseball is the high school baseball program representing Douglas School District in Box Elder, South Dakota. Our program is built around developing young athletes, competing at the A level, and creating a baseball tradition within the Douglas community.
The program is open to student-athletes from 7th grade through high school seniors, giving players the opportunity to grow within the program throughout their middle and high school years. DHS Baseball fields three teams — Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity — providing players with opportunities to compete and develop at the appropriate level.
A New Chapter in 2027
The 2027 season marks a new chapter for DHS Patriots Baseball as Kevin Valko takes over as Manager.
Every new season brings its own challenges, and 2027 will be no different. The Patriots graduated eight seniors from the 2026 class, leaving some important positions and leadership roles to fill. That creates an opportunity for the next generation of Patriots to step up, compete for those spots, and help establish the identity of the 2027 team.
With new faces comes new opportunity. Our goal is to continue building a program where players are challenged to improve, teammates hold each other accountable, and everyone understands the importance of representing the Community of Box Elder.
Competing in South Dakota
DHS Patriots Baseball competes in the South Dakota High School Baseball Association (SDHSBA), facing teams from across the state throughout the season.
Our Home Field
While we work toward the long-term goal of developing a home baseball facility in Box Elder, the Patriots currently play their home games at McKeague Field in Rapid City.
Having a permanent home of our own would be an important step for the future of Douglas baseball, creating a place for our players, families, and community to gather and helping us continue to build the program from youth baseball through high school.
Until that day comes, we’re proud to take the field at McKeague Field and represent Douglas wherever we play.
More than wins and losses, we want our players to learn what it means to be part of a team — to work hard, compete, handle adversity, and take pride in wearing the Patriots uniform.
The 2027 season is a new beginning. New players will have an opportunity to make their mark, new leaders will emerge, and a next chapter of DHS Patriots Baseball will be written.
